Arnaudville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm, on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Joseph A Thompson Sr., 76, who passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2020.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 11:30 am on Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Saturday.
Rev. Travis Abadie will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Mr. Thompson was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He was the backbone of the family and was there to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. Joseph was a hardworking man who always provided for his family. He retired after many years with Reliant Energy as supervisor. He enjoyed taking trips to the casino, working, and being with the ones he loved the most. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Alvin Thompson, Jr., Melissa Ann Thompson Jenkins (Vincent), Scotty Anthony Thompson, Lamar Burks, and Joseph Burks; brother, Joseph J. (Margaret) Thompson; sisters, Elvina T. Dean (John), Ida T. Human and Rose T. Wiltz (Preston); ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and his companion, Rosie Lee Burks.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Junius Thompson , Sr. and Bertha Sam Thompson; brothers, Joseph M. Thompson and George A. Thompson; nephew, Joseph Jermaine Human; brothers-in-law, Alton Human, Edward Reed, Lawrence Reed, Sr. and Paul James Reed, Sr.; and sisters-in-law, Rose Reed Davis and Edna Mae Reed Barnaba
Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Alvin Thompson Jr., Scotty Anthony Thompson, Lamar Burks, Joseph Burks, Joseph J. Thompson, and John O. Dean.
