Loreauville - A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Joseph S. Williams, Sr., 89, who passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018 after a fruitful life.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 9:00 am until 10:00 am on Tuesday.
Deacon Roland Jeanlouis will officiate, with comments by Rev. Carl F. Lewis.
Joseph Sylvester Williams, Sr. was born in Belle Place, LA on January 31, 1929 to the late Frank and Mary Peters Williams. He retired in 1989 from Iberia Parish Government as Superintendent of Maintenance. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Loreauville. He enjoyed gardening and cooking for family and friends and going to the casinos. He donated generously to over thirty shrines and charitable and religious organizations including The Rosary Shrine of St. Jude, Trinity Missions Mass Society, Our Lady of Lourdes National Shrine, Basilica of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, Mary Queen of the Third Millennium, Padre Pio, Omaha Home for Boys, and many others.
Left to cherish memories of his beautiful life is his faithful son, Joseph S. Williams, Jr. and wife Allison Renee Williams of Loreauville; loving daughters, Marguerite Williams of Port Arthur, TX, and Lynn E. Lee and husband David Lloyd Lee Sr. of Loreauville; brother, Hurley D. Williams (Lovenia) of Houston; sister, Martha W. Knatt of Loreauville; brothers-in-laws, Robert Jones (Marie) of Loreauville, Johnny (Lisa) Knatt of Roswell, GA, and John (Louisa) P. Knatt, Sr. of Loreauville; sisters-in-laws, Margaret Broussard of Crosby, TX, Madeline J. Alexander of Loreauville, Etta Jefferson of Loreauville, and Myrtle Olivier (Jules) of Loreauville; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Williams; second wife, Mary Dell Knatt Williams; third wife, Geneva Williams; a son, Darrell James Knatt; granddaughters, Virgin Valencia Lee and Laura Ann Williams, a great grandson, Devondre Benjamin; and brothers-in-law, Ervin Knatt and Avery Knatt, Sr.
