Joseph Whitney Wiltz

Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Joseph Whitney Wiltz, 79, who passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:30 am until the time of service on Sunday. Deacon Ken Soignier will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Wiltz was very involved in many different sectors of the education field throughout his life. He began his career teaching at Teurlings Catholic High School before working with the St. Martin Parish School System. While he was employed with St. Martin Parish, he worked in many different areas of education which included: teaching in the classroom, working in human resources, and serving as the Assistant Superintendent. As a pastime, Whitney enjoyed teaching classes at University of Louisiana at Lafayette and researching his family history and learning about his ancestors. He liked spending time outside gardening, taking care of his fish pond, and tending to the many different animals that he had around the house. Most of all, he cherished moments spent with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Landry Wiltz of Parks; his daughter, Kerry Wiltz Wade of Parks; his grandson, Yancey Wade of Parks; and two brothers, Alton Wiltz and wife, Ann, of Parks and Terry Wiltz and wife, Helen, of Zachary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Emma Courville Wiltz; and two sons, Keith Wiltz and Bryan Wiltz. Pallbearers will be Chris Latiolais, Richard Latiolais, Terry Wiltz, Terry James Wiltz Jr., Yancey Wade, and Kevin Wiltz. Honorary pallbearers will be Alton Wiltz, Harley Wiltz, and Douglas Bernard.
