Josephine T. (Melancon) Hargrave

Catahoula - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm, on Monday, October 5, 2015, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula, for Josephine T. (Melancon) Hargrave, 85, who passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Dion Hall, 4452 Catahoula Hwy. (Hwy. 96) from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm on Sunday, and continue on Monday at 8:00 am until 1:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Sunday. Rev. Richard Fabre will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Gift bearers will be Jayda Faucheaux, Ava Berthelot, Jalyn Melancon, and Bailey Noel. The reader will be Melissa Olivier. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed when her great-grandchildren visited. Josephine enjoyed listening to French and gospel music. Her favorite color was yellow and she loved flowers. She is survived by her daughters, Annie Dean Noel, Aline Berthelot and husband Irby; sons, Allen Melancon, Sr. and wife Ethel, Russell Melancon, Sr. and Patsy, Ronald Melancon and wife Rita, Joseph Melancon, Sr.; grandchildren, Allen Melancon, Jr., Janet Melancon, Rachel Melancon, Elizabeth Romero, Russell Melancon, Jr., Melissa Olivier, Anthony Melancon, Tammy Melancon, Dawn Theriot, Darryl Melancon, Jr., Irby Berthelot, Josie Faucheaux, Cindel Melancon, Joseph Melancon, Jr., Lucas Melancon, Monique Oubre; and 31 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by first husband, Stafford Melancon, Sr.; son, Stafford Melancon, Jr.; daughter, Irene Melancon; son-in-law, Darryl Melancon, Sr.; parents, Oscar and Celina Theriot; and second husband, Elridge Hargrave. Pallbearers will be Ronald Melancon, Allen Melancon Jr., Russell Melancon Jr., Darryl Melancon Jr., Irby Berthelot, and Joseph Melancon Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Melancon Sr., Russell Melancon Sr., Joseph Melancon Sr., Anthony Melancon, and Lucas Melancon.
