New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Faith Cathedral, 4416 Highway 14 in New Iberia, for Joy Rita Viator, 79, who died on Thursday, April 18, 2013 in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the CHURCH. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Joy Rita was born on February 21, 1934. She was the daughter of Notice and Lillian Dorsey Viator. Survivors include her children, Debra R. Jeansonne and husband J. of New Iberia, Miki DaCosta and husband Richard of New Iberia, Shane Toups and wife Jermaine of New Iberia, Shannon Toups and companion Shawn Bares of Broussard; brothers and sisters, Myrtle Derouen of New Iberia, Edward 'Te-Boy' Viator and wife Jean of New Iberia, Harvey Viator of New Iberia, Danny Viator and wife Willie Mae of Coteau, Notice 'Butch' Viator, Jr. and companion Mary of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren, Stacy, Jerico, Rene, Raul, Raven, Kassie, Riley, Korie, Kalyb, Brandon, Chandler; and several great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Latiolais, and an infant daughter. Pallbearers will be Raul Trevizo, Shane Toups, Brandon Davison, Kalyb Boudreaux, Richard DaCosta, and Jerico Jeansonne. Honorary pallbearers include her brothers, and son-in-law.
