Joyce Ann Polite Ebow

St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Union Baptist Church in St. Martinville for Joyce Ann Polite Ebow, 84, who peacefully answered the call of the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2020 surrounded by family and friends. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday and continue on Saturday at 7:00 am until 10:30 am. She was born on January 13, 1936 to the late Muller Polite and late Florita Chambers Polite. As a child, Joyce accepted Christ and was baptized at Union Baptist Church in Saint Martinville, Louisiana. “Dottie” as she was affectionately called by many of her family members, loved life and caring for people. She loved traveling and caring for her children and grandchildren. Joyce Ann was an amazing cook. She was known for her famous Red Beans & Rice, Gumbo, and many other delicious dishes. Special thanks goes to Reginald Hill Sr., Charlene and Reginald Hill Jr, special friend Rose Potier, caregiver Stephanie Odu and Acadiana Hospice workers (Wendy Cole, Laura Brown, Belinda Poor and Rachel Landor), Council on Aging (Khandi Durand) for their love and care for our mother during her time of illness. Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Francis Ebow Jr.; father Muller Polite; mother, Florita Chambers Polite; sister Mary Alice Fontenette; brothers, Louis Calvin Polite, James Allen Polite and John Adam Polite (Butch); father-in-law, Francis Ebow Sr.; mother-in-law, Melba Thibodeaux Ebow; grandson, Elridge Ebow Jr.; and granddaughters, Taylor Ebow and Shayla Ebow. Pallbearers will be Byron Ebow, Reginald Ebow, Reginald Hill Jr, Joseph Listenbee Jr, Kolby Listenbee, and Payton Ebow. Honorary Pallbearers will be Reginald Hill Sr., Joseph Listenbee Sr, Terrance Woods, Michael Ebow, Elridge Ebow, Keith Ebow, Glenn Ebow, and Jacob Woods.
