Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 18, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Joyce D. Carmouche, 86, who passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Courtyard Manor Nurse Care Center & Assisted Living. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Thursday and continue on Friday at 8:00 am until 1:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday. Rev. Austin Leger will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette. Joyce died at the age of 86 on May 14, 2018 having lived a full and fulfilling life. She was born in Kaplan, LA, losing her mother at the age of 6, she lived with her grandmother on the farm. She enjoyed all the animals: pigs, sheep, especially the little lambs, cows and horses, which she loved riding and rounding-up the cows in the evenings, also chickens, ducks and turkeys. She loved the garden with many vegetables and fruit trees, especially oranges and strawberries. She moved with a sister, Jeanne, in Crowley, LA where she finished high school. At that time there was no money for college, so she worked at the telephone office there and later met her husband, Buddy Carmouche, who at the time, was in law school at Tulane University. After finishing his education, he went into practice in Crowley where Joyce became his legal secretary until they moved to Lafayette in 1964. They both became members of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, he became the Commander and she the President. She arranged the Jaycee Janes and was elected president and was active at Bayou Bend Golf Club. After moving to Lafayette, she became active in Acadian Hills Country Club and held office there. Joyce accomplished many things in life and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving son, Henry P. Carmouche, III and wife Doris of Houston, TX; daughter, Catherine Carmouche of Scott; her sister, Jeanne Miles and husband Son of Palm Springs, CA; companion, Stanley "Jerry" Dwyer of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Ryan M. Murphy, Carolyn C. Sommar, Margaret "Claire" Carmouche, Kim Miller, and Sharon Arguello; and her great grandchildren, Adrianna Crabtree, Alice Sommar, Johnny Sommar, Avery Sommar, and James Sommar. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elise and Azilda LeLeux Dartez; her 1st husband, H. Purvis Carmouche, Jr.; 2nd husband, Anthony Tony Molbert; brother, Loudise "Black" Dartez; and sisters, Anna Mae Bonin and Rita Parquette LaSource.
