Joyce worked for many years at Pennzoil. She retired from Pennzoil after 25 years and returned to school and entered the hotel hospitality field. Then she was offered the opportunity to work with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office, and therefore re-entered the workforce working with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office as an Administrative Assistant for Sheriff Charles A. Fuselier. Then later as an Executive Administrative Assistant for Sheriff Ronnie Theriot, altogether making 17 ½ years and retired March of 2018.
Joyce loved her work with the Sheriff's department and loved assisting people - that made her work truly enjoyable. Joyce's passion was to " Make a Difference" and she indeed had a love for everyone. Her real passion was doing fun things with her husband, Curtis, the “love her life”. Joyce and Curtis celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on Feb 17, 2020.
She endeared many pet dogs throughout the years and entrusted her care and love to each of them. Her present pets are Bandy (French Bulldog) and Frosty (Toy Poodle).
Joyce had many hobbies which included amateur photography and writing poetry. She also enjoyed working with arts and crafts and making gifts for family and friends who were important to her.
Joyce and her husband, Cutis, were instrumental in having a large crawfish crafted along with backdrops and took pictures for many years at local festivals and even traveled with a tour group with the crawfish and they enjoyed every moment.
Joyce loved to cook and shared some of her recipes with family and friends. She received many recognitions with medals and awards for some of her prize-winning recipes. Many of her recipes have been featured in cookbooks.
Joyce will be sadly missed and will surely leave cherished memories.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Joseph LeBlanc of Breaux Bridge; sisters, Mildred Jacques Segura of New Iberia and Lucy Jacques (Bill) Persky of Jasper, AL; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews; and her beloved pets, Frosty and Bandy – they were treated like children and were the loves of her life.
