New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Joyce Pierson Sherwood, 69, who died on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in New Iberia. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM A native of Baton Rouge, Ms. Sherwood was born on June 29, 1943, and was a resident of New Iberia for most of her life. She worked for New Iberia Hardware, and was an organ transplant patient. Survivors include sons, Gary Sherwood and wife Cheryl Chiasson of Carencro, Gerald Sherwood and girlfriend Stacie Young of Lafayette; daughters, Sherry Sherwood Maturin and husband Billy Maturin of Lafayette, Debbie Sherwood Neisser and husband Darrell Neisser of New Iberia; sister, Janice P. Crowder of Denham Springs; brother, Ivan J. Pierson and wife Luvader of Virginia; grandchildren, Shantel Sherwood, Brent Sherwood, Meagan Sherwood Bourgeois, Sarah Sherwood, Casey Maturin, Justin Neisser, Sean Lavergne, Cameron Lavergne, Gabriel Lavergne; 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Ivan O. Pierson; mother, Elsie Griffin Pierson; sister, Marie Pierson Moore; son, Irvin Wayne Sherwood; and a grandson, Coby A. Maturin.
