New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Juanita Savoy Ewing, 82, who passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018, in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. David Denton, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 am until 10:00 am.
A longtime resident of New Iberia, Juanita was born on July 10, 1935 in Gueydan to the late Angelas and Aledecia Gary Savoie. She worked for Home Finance, Iberia Savings & Loans, and Iberia Mortgage. Juanita played in the church softball league for many years, was an avid gardener, enjoyed sewing, bowling, cooking, and pokeno. Most of all she cherished time spent with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, J.T. Ewing of New Iberia; daughters, Debbie Iblings and husband Loren of Duson, Tina Roy and husband Charlie of Huntersville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Michelle Iblings, David Iblings and wife Kristina, Sarah Leonard and husband Mike, Taylor Roy and wife Heather, and Tucker Roy; great grandchildren, Jude Leonard, Samuel Leonard, C.J. Iblings, and one due to arrive in June; siblings, Bonnie Holmes of Silsbee, Texas, Ern Lowery of Winnie, Texas, Freda Davis of Pottsville, Pennsylvania; and sister-in-law, Peggy Lowery of High Island, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father, Angelas Savoie, Jr., mother, Aledecia Dolly Gary Savoie Lowery, step dad, Pete Lowery, brother, Billy Lowery, sister, Mary Breaux, and six other siblings.
Pallbearers will be Tucker Roy, Taylor Roy, Mike Leonard, David Iblings, Charlie Roy, and Loren Iblings.
