Lydia - Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Jules D. Broussard, 81, who died on Thursday, April 11, 2013 in Lydia. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, in Patoutville, with Military Honors by the New Iberia VFW Post 1982. Msgr. Jace Eskind will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Born on September 19, 1931, Mr. Broussard proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a teacher for over 25 years, having taught at Peebles Elementary School and Weeks Island Jr. High. Mr. Broussard also worked as a policeman for USL at the Naval Air Base in New Iberia. He was a member and former commander of the American Legion Post 365, and the DAV New Iberia Post. Mr. Broussard was a former member of the New Iberia VFW Honor Guard, and the Ancient Order of Gourmets. His hobbies included fishing, traveling, camping, and gardening. Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Dorothy Tarver Broussard of Lydia; daughter, Bonnie Rabeaux and husband Paul of Lydia; son-in-law, Art Vancil of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley V. Brewer and husband Trevor, Allison V. Matkin, and husband Ezra; great grandchildren, Eli Matkin, Maggie Matkin, Matthew Matkin, Charles Matkin, Cooper Matkin, Jaye Brewer, Quinn Brewer; godchildren, Stoney Hotard, Jr., Hope Broussard, Wade Broussard; and a special friend who was like a granddaughter to him, Jalan LeJeune. He was preceded in death by his a daughter, Connie B. Vancil; parents, Charles and Lena Broussard; sister, Constance Hotard; brother, Lawless Broussard, Sr.; godchild, Kenneth Jules Broussard; and an infant son, L.C.Pallbearers will be Art Vancil, Paul Rabeaux, Charles Hotard, Stoney Hotard, Jr., Ted Hotard and Corey Hotard.Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, LA 70560, 337.365.3331, is in charge of arrangements.
