St. Martinville - Funeral Services for Julien Dupuis will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, January 30, 2009, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, with Msgr. J. Douglas Courville officiating.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Julien Dupuis was born January 9, 1911 in Parks, Louisiana and resided in St. Martinville until death. Mr. Dupuis passed away at Lafayette General Hospital on Thursday, January 29, 2009. He was 98. Mr. Dupuis was a retired farmer, butcher owner and operator of Dupuis' Meat Market, once known as Old Mr. Leon Dugas Store in St. Martinville. He served in the National Guard, 39th Division, 156th Infantry. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, gardening and dancing.
Survivors include three sons, Percy Dupuis, Francis "Bose" Dupuis, both of St. Martinville, Fred Dupuis, wife Nell, of New Iberia; three daughters, Georgia D. Albert, husband Carrol, of Lafayette, Beulah D. Serrette, husband, Nolan, and Mary D. Arton, husband Dennis, both of St. Martinville. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Gena D. Abromov, Eddie and Donnie Dupuis, all of Dallas, Texas, Ricky, Danny and Phillip Dupuis, all of New Iberia, Christopher Dupuis of Breaux Bridge, Barrett Dupuis of Lafayette, Carol Ann A. Perrio, Kirk Albert, Phyllis A. Collette and Penny A. Ventress, all of Lafayette, Bernadette A. Faul of Hemet, California, Kevin Serrette of Nigeria, Africa, Kent Serrette of Henderson, Kim Serrette of Lafayette, Stacey Arton of New Orleans and Paul Julien Arton of Erath; 42 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ada D. Armand of Crowley, and nieces, nephews and friends; his wonderful and loving care-giver and friend, Carol Boutte; his loving sitters, Darrel Grubbs, Jr., Connie Lasseigne, Lillian Evans, Vicki, Kathyrn many others.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Angelina Landry Dupuis, second wife, Enola V. Delcambre, third wife, Emily D. Barras; son Phillip Dupuis; grandson Keith David Serrette; granddaughter Anne Adele Dupuis; his parents Sylvain and Odile Melancon Dupuis; two brothers DieuDonne "Dan" Dupuis and August Dupuis; three sisters Edola "SuSu" D. Babineaux, Eliza D. Belaire and Innocent D. Guidry; and five nephews, Adley Dupuis, Billy Babineaux, DieuDonne "D.D." Armand, Harris Belaire, and Ernest "Neg" Guidry.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 6 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
A rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Cody Dupuis, Christopher Dupuis, Barrett Dupuis, Kirk Albert, Tyler Ventress, and Kim Serrette.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are his children and grandchildren.
