St. Martinville - A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 25, 2019, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Juliette "Ju-Ju" Bienvenu Landry, 71, who passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 am until time of service.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Memorial Mass. Readers will be Anna Katherine Pellerin and Edna B. Landry.
As a child, Juliette, or "Ju-Ju," as she was often called, loved to ride her bike around town, play with her cousins, swim, and pirogue down the bayou. She attended Mercy Elementary, Mercy High Class of 1966, and USL class of 1971.
She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother to her husband and two boys. She delighted in bringing them on adventures. Her favorite place in the world was Seaside, Florida, where she and her family would spend many summer vacations. She had a passion for drawing and painting and always had a project on hand. Her favorite were seashells and sailboats.
Ju-Ju had a heart for the poor and downtrodden, going out of her way to provide clothes, transportation, food, or whatever was needed to help out. Many people have been on the receiving end of her generosity and compassion. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Pierre Rex "Rocky" Landry; sons, Pierre Landry, III and Philippe Landry; brother, Fred Bienvenu and wife Lynnie; sister, Sylvia McHugh; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Martin Landry and spouse Tarra, David Landry and spouse Alice, Rachael Alexander and spouse HC, and Marguerite Landry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Margaret Fournet Bienvenu; brother, Don Bienvenu; and brother-in-law, Butch McHugh.
The family would like to thank Landmark of Acadiana and Pathways Hospice for their warm and loving care shown to Juliette.
In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to the organization of your choice.
