A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Juliette Viator Lucas was born on February 8, 1928 to the late Luke Paul and Olga "Bib" Eliza Delcambre Viator. She attended Hotel Dieu in New Orleans until she married Edward Lucas in 1948. They were married 64 years when Edward passed away in 2012. Juliette worked as a nurse at Dauterive Hospital for 10 years. She and Edward loved to travel; they saw most of the United States by RV, and also traveled to Africa and Europe. They also enjoyed square dancing, and were members of the Hoe-Downers. Juliette was a longtime member of St. Marcellus Catholic Church, and was the church organist for many years. She loved to bake, and excelled at it. She also enjoyed playing the piano, fishing, and crocheting. She spent the last years of her life at Azalea Estates, where she entertained the other residents by playing the piano. Juliette had a zest for life, and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by three children, Mark Lucas and wife Sue Zahn of Cypress, TX, Beverly Morgan and husband Jim of Texas City, TX; and Catherine Himel and husband Kent of New Iberia; daughter-in-law, Belinda Lucas of New Iberia; an aunt, Aline Joyce Crochet of New Iberia; thirteen grandchildren, Christopher Lucas, Sarah Meche, Katie Porche, Alison Charpentier, Joshua Lucas, Eric Lucas, Marianne Patout, Michelle Accardo, Megan Accardo, Melanie Morgan, Michaela Morgan, Lucy Broussard, and Laura Theriot; and 22 great-grandchildren.
