New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Julius “T-Jun” Segura, 69, who passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, December 25, 2020.
Entombment will be at a later date.
Willard Landry will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Pellerin Funeral Home.
A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:00 pm Tuesday.
Mr. Segura was born on October 4, 1951 and grew up at Avery Island. He married Mary Blaskowski Copas on March 25, 1989, and together they raised their seven children in New Iberia.
As a teenager, T-Jun worked on Avery Island in the pepper fields. He also worked in Jungle Gardens for eight years, at the Tabasco factory for 38 years, and he retired from the factory in 2015. He and Mary enjoyed taking yearly trips to Washington DC, Virginia, Wisconsin and Nebraska to visit family, and he was especially happy to have the opportunity to visit Custer’s Last Stand on one of their trips. He enjoyed fishing, reading westerns, and gardening, and after retirement, he painted many beautiful paint-by-number pictures.
Mr. Segura leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 31 years, Mary Segura; three children, Rebecca (Becky) Segura, Scotty Segura (wife Laurie), and Rusty Segura (wife Scarlett); four stepchildren, John Copas (wife Alison), Julie Comeaux (husband Ronald), James Copas (former wife Lisa), and Jeremy Copas; 10 grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren. All of the grandchildren called him “Pop.” He also leaves a sister, Judy Landry (husband Bob); brothers, Ronald Segura and Enol Guillot (wife Pal Rita); sister-in-law, Carol Segura; eight step-sisters-in-law; 10 step- brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews, and cousins; the mother of his children, Janice Voisin; and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Touchet Segura; his father, Julius J. Segura, Sr.; a brother, Larry Dean Segura; an infant sister; brother-in-law, Bruce Blaskowski; and his mother-in-law, Clara Blaskowski.
