St. Martinville - Services are pending for Karen Schmolke, 58, who passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at her residence.

Karen had an unwavering passion for the simple pleasures that brought her happiness. She found joy in the rustling pages of her favorite magazines, where she often lost herself in stories and ideas. The great outdoors called to her spirit, offering respite and adventure as she relished in nature's beauty. Whether it was the thrill of shopping trips where she could showcase her flair for fashion or cozy evenings watching her beloved shopping network, Karen embraced every opportunity to express herself and connect with the world around her.

Her love for family was unparalleled. Karen often dedicated her time to her nieces and nephews, showering them with affection and life lessons during countless babysitting sessions. Family gatherings were her sanctuary-moments filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of togetherness. Karen took great pleasure in dressing up and enjoying the company of her loved ones over delicious meals, making every outing a cherished memory in the hearts of those around her.

An avid crossword enthusiast, she delighted in challenging her mind while sipping on her favorite beverage, perhaps with a piece of candy close by-a little indulgence that always brought a smile to her face. Her love of bowling was another avenue through which she forged connections, lively rolls down the lane reminding everyone of the joy found in friendly competition and support.

Always a lovable person, Karen's heart was open, her spirit uplifting. Her absence leaves a profound void in the lives of her family and friends, who will carry her laughter, kindness, and zest for life in their hearts forever.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Janice, David, Paul, Marie and Mike; her nieces and nephews, Lacey (Donny), Jody (Shanna), Kimberly, Darwen, Dylan, Brittney, Shandi, Mia, Sara, T-Mike, T-Paul, Terance, Logan, Chloe, Kaylin, Ashley and Sam; and her great nieces and nephews, D.J., Gavin, Kole, Peyton, Karter, Dylan, Hayden, Camberen, Piazlee, Everly, Brenzon, Hazlee, Ryder, Aspen, Zane, Jr., Karie and Caden.

She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Geraldine Beard Schmolke.
