New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Katie Champagne Campbell, 55 who died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in New Iberia , after a courageous battle with cancer. Interment will follow Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery , in Delcambre. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. Born on November 29, 1955 , Katie was a native and lifelong resident of New Iberia , working in area banks for over 37 years. She enjoyed arts, crafts, gardening, and taking care of her yard, however her faith and family were the most important of all. Katie will be deeply missed. Survivors include her son, Michael Paul Campbell and wife April of New Iberia; sister, Charlotte Stelly of New Iberia ; brother, Ronald Champagne and wife Billie of New Caney, Texas ; a special cousin, Virginia Lee of New Iberia ; and her beloved pet dog, 'Chopper'. She was preceded in death by her parents, Whitney and Anna Belle Trahan Champagne ; grandparents, Desire and Ella Lange Trahan, Lucas and Louise Theriot Champagne . Pallbearers will be Michael Campbell, Justin Stelly, Lucas Stelly, Virginia Lee, Andy Bourque, and Shane Suire. Honorary pallbearers include Toby Norris, Rodney Guidry, Chris Champagne, Ronald Champagne, and Luis Villa. The family would like to give special thanks to all of Katies family, friends, and to the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their extra ordinary care and compassion. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia . A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Friday.
