Kelly was born on November 27, 1956, in St. Martinville which is where he graduated from in 1974.
He started his work career driving 18 wheelers. He then went on to begin his oilfield career at Mallard Drilling in the warehouse, working his way up through the ranks to International Purchasing Agent. He later went on to become the co-founder and co-owner of Axxis Drilling. He became a successful businessman and entrepreneur. After selling Axxis Drilling, he continued to consult for various oilfield companies.
He was adept at synthesizing information from different domains, always making him an invaluable asset to any project or business problem.
Kelly traveled all around the world for work and then also later in his life he started to travel for pleasure. He had a love to see and experience different types of cultures. He was granted the opportunity to travel to 6 of the 7 continents in his lifetime.
Kelly was a very devoted father, grandfather, and husband. He absolutely loved his dogs even when they did naughty things, he called them his "Good Puppers".
He was an accomplished, intelligent soul with a photographic memory who was always ready and willing to learn more and share his knowledge with everyone. When asked to remember a detail of the past, he would always begin each story with a clever smirk. His sharp mind, quick wit, and intellect will dance in our hearts forever. Kelly had a love of dad jokes and dead pan dry humor.
Aside from his great accomplishments, he also remained a key pillar within his community. He coached the pee-wee football team, the Catahoula Chargers/Bucks. He coordinated the Catahoula Church Fair. He served as Master of Ceremonies for the Catahoula Mardi Gras for many years during its peak.
