St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Kendall Joseph Savoy, 31, who passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010 at his residence.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Fr. Augustinus Seran, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Kendall was employed at the ARC of St. Martinville for 11 years, where he assisted in the recycling of newspapers. He loved playing video games, playing the piano, listening to music, watching movies, dancing, and going to the casinos. Kendall attended 5 o'clock Mass every Saturday, at Notre Dame Catholic Church. He also loved talking on the phone - he never forgot a birthday and would call all of his family and friends to wish them a Happy Birthday. Kendall will long be remembered for his good natured spirit in helping others and the special way he enjoyed sharing anything he had with anyone who was in need.
Survivors include his mother, Jeanette Mason, of St. Martinville, special friend, Ray Allen, Sr.; two brothers, Lawrence Mason and Zachary Mason, both of Lafayette; his father, John Timothy Filer, of St. Martinville; his grandmother, Myrtle Ned, of St. Martinville; his half-brother, Carnell Narcisse Filer, of New Iberia; half-sisters, Yolanda Gabriel, of Lafayette, and Timetra August, of New Iberia; and a host of aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his step fathers, Raymond Savoy and ;Lawrence Mason; maternal grandmother, Velma Martin; maternal great grandparents, Geneva and Stanley Mallery; and his uncle, Joseph Ned.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Mason, Corey Allen, Ray Allen, Jr., Mendall Potier, John Alexander, and Leroy Phillips.
