Coteau A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Kenneth D. DeCuir, 74, who died Sunday, November 3, 2013, in Lafayette.
Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.
Rev. Barry Crochet will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 9:15 AM.
Kenneth was born on July 21, 1939 in Los Angeles, California, and then at the age of 10, he and his family moved to Louisiana. He graduated from high school at the Marion Military Institute in Alabama. This paved the way for his successful career in the U.S. Air Force. He copied and decoded Morse code from Communist countries during the Cold War, for which he had Top Secret clearance from the U.S. Government.
Kenneth was also the Choir Director and organist for Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for many years. He owned and operated DeeDees and Kens Clothing Store in New Iberia for many years.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Sandra Cain DeCuir of New Iberia; children, Kathy LeBlanc and companion Emile Doumit of New Iberia, Dana Rabeaux and husband Corey of Lafayette, Mark DeCuir of Lafayette; grandchildren, Landon Rabeaux and Emilie Rabeaux; sister, Claudette Dartez and husband Jerry of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ouida Banker DeCuir; and a half brother, Fred V. DeCuir.
Pallbearers will be Barrett Hebert, Corey Hebert, Ian Gaspard, Corey Rabeaux, Emile Doumit, and Taylor Cain.
Kenneth was a loving devoted husband and father who enjoyed being with his family, as well as with his church family.
