Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Kenneth J. Duplechein, 79, who passed away on December 14, 2023.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Tuesday from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Ken Soignier at 11:00 AM on Tuesday.
Rev. Michael Vidrine will officiate the funeral mass. Gift bearers will be Michelle Miller and Ethan Dupuis. Readers will be Angela Champagne and Lachelle Castille.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Kenneth was born on January 17, 1944, in Arnaudville. After honorably serving in the United States Air Force, he began his career in dredging where he worked his way up and specializing as a leverman. He was a part of many important dredging jobs throughout the United States, with his family in tow, and traveled to many countries throughout the world providing his expertise. Kenneth was well known in his community as he owned "The Bar" in Cecilia for over 30 years. He had a love for cooking, traveling, and playing the card game, Euchre with his friends. Family meant so much to him. He loved his "blended family" especially the grandchildren, who would affectionately call him, "Popsie". Kenneth will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his children, Roxane Quinn, Ritchie Duplechein, Kimberly Duplechein, Michelle Thibodeaux Miller and Angela Thibodeaux Champagne: his companion of 26 years, Lucille Fanny Thibodeaux; grandchildren, Xander Ward , Gia Duplechein, Jardyn Dupuis, Aimie LeBlanc, Kaylee Frederick, Kristen Miller, Konner Allo, Kohl Champagne, Devon Quinn and Tiffany Jacobs-Quinn; 10 great-grand children (and counting) and brother, Billy Duplechein.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Murphy Duplechein, Sr.; mother, Rena Courville Duplechein; mother of his children, Barbara Johnson; brothers, Murphy Duplechein, Jr. and Rickey Duplechein; and two sons-in-law, John Quinn and Robert “Peewee” Ray.
Pallbearers will be Billy Duplechein, Jr., Logan Duplechein, Cabe Duplechein, Kohl Champagne, PJ Johnson, and Torey LeBlanc.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Harvey Johnson, Glen Miller, and Richard Champagne.
