St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2024 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Kenneth "Kenny" Laperouse, Sr., 81, who passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at his residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Friday from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm.
A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am on Friday morning by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert.
Father Reed Bellingham will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Rylee Melancon, Ella Boudreaux and Lanie Boudreaux. Gift Bearers will be Emma Boudreaux, Maci Melancon and Terri-Belle Boudreaux.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Kenny was a game warden with Wildlife and Fisheries for 26 years. He was a dedicated United States Marine Corps veteran who served honorably during the Vietnam War. Born on June 26, 1942, in St. Martinville, LA, Kenneth was known for his kind-hearted nature and willingness to help others.
Throughout his life, Kenneth found joy in simple pleasures like playing poker and blackjack and indulging in his love for crawfishing. A devout Catholic, his faith was a guiding light in his life, shaping his interactions and decisions.
Kenny was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Kenneth Laperouse, Jr. (Sheryl) and Chad Laperouse (Rachel); daughters, Jennifer Breaux (Corey) and Angela Melancon (Blake); grandchildren, Lanie Boudreaux (Brandon), Travis "TJ" Thibodeaux, Jr., Brandon Laperouse, Cody Laperouse, Rylee Melancon, Wyatt Breaux and Maci Melancon; step-grandchildren, Angelina Vallone, Joseph Vallone and Noah Vallone; great-grandchildren, Sydni Borel, Jessie Laperouse, Emma Boudreaux, Hayden Boudreaux, Ella Boudreaux and Terri-Belle Boudreaux; and sister, Marie Laperouse Hebert.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Linda Theriot Laperouse; daughter, Elizabeth Keddy Laperouse; parents, Expadie Laperouse, Sr. and Adele Boudreaux Laperouse; sisters, Madeline L. Chimento, Rita L. Fuselier, Vernice L. Derouen and Mildred L. Reed; and brothers, Louis Laperouse, James Laperouse, Anthony "Tony" Laperouse, Francis Laperouse and Expadie "Kani" Laperouse, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Chad Laperouse, Corey Breaux, Blake Melancon, August "Augie" Fuselier, Travis "TJ" Thibodeaux, Jr. and Wyatt Breaux.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Kenneth Laperouse, Jr., Cody Laperouse and Hayden Boudreaux.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Traditions Hospice, as well as his caregivers: Charlene Courville, Angela Courville, Donna Cogswell, Sherri Soileau and Linda Alexander, for all of their care, kindness and compassion that they provided.
