Kercy lived a life rich in love, hard work, and family values. He was known for his unwavering dedication to his family. His workplace commitment as a chef in the oil and gas industry allowed him to come to know many of the U.S. waterways, all while ensuring that his children received a quality education - an achievement he held close to his heart. Kercy's pride and joy extended beyond his professional achievements; he cherished the time spent in his garden, boasting a green thumb that brought life to his surroundings. Whether cutting the grass or tending to his plants, Kercy found solace in the outdoors.
Among his numerous stories, Kercy loved to reminisce about the many adventures he experienced, with traveling through the Panama Canal standing out as a proud accomplishment. His zest for life spilled over into the dance floor, where he and his wife, Betty Guidry, shared countless joyful moments in their youth. Kercy also had a deep appreciation for speed and sports cars, which added to his vibrant and adventurous spirit. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Caillier Guidry; daughters, Sandra Guidry and Elizabeth "Liz" Champagne (Robbie); sons, Sammy Guidry (Cathy) and Kirk Guidry (Sharon); brother, Louis Ray; grandchildren, Karyn Guidry, Laura Guidry (Mark), David Guidry, Kali Guidry Sosa (Johnny), Kellsie Guidry Gottung (Denton), Travis Champagne (Donna), Kerci Champagne McRae (Elie) and Kory Champagne; and his great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Emma, Liam, Audrey, Grayson, Isabelle, Raegan, Trey, Alice, Monroe, Oliver and Delilah.
He is preceded in death by his grand-daughter, Claire Guidry; parents, Lazain Guidry, Jr. and Mae Moreau Guidry; and his siblings, Aubrey Guidry, Ruth Jumonville, Theresa Guidry, Virgie Caillier and Nolan Guidry.
