Catahoula - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 5, 2024, at St. Rita Catholic Church for Kerry James Champagne, 58, who passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
A visitation will take place at Dion Hall on Friday from 9:00 AM to 1:45 PM. A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 PM on Friday.
Father Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Rose Dohmann and Lorrie Poirier.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Kerry was born on December 18, 1965, in Saint Martinville. Kerry was a man of many passions and interests. From his love for cooking to his unwavering support for LSU, he brought joy and enthusiasm into everything he did. His keen interest in working with computers not only showcased his intellectual curiosity but also his dedication to learning and exploring new things.
However, above all else, Kerry will be remembered as a dedicated family man. He cherished nothing more than spending time with his loved ones, creating precious memories that will be treasured for generations to come. His kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit were evident in every interaction, making him someone truly special.
He is survived by his wife of 5 years, Valerie Champagne; mother, Pearly Champagne; son, Seth Champagne (Stephanie); daughter, Heather Champagne (Cody); step-daughters, Rose Dohmann (Shannon) and Rebeca Dohmann (Keith); grandchildren, Avery Champagne and Emily Champagne; and his step-grandchildren, Lucas Dohmann, Beau Dohmann and Madeline Dohmann.
He is preceded in death by his father, Patrick Champagne; and his spouse, Emily Champagne.
Pallbearers will be Seth Champagne, Cody Champane, Shannon Dohmann, Keith Dohmann, Shannon Savoie, and Willie Morvant.
