Kevin Bernis

March 5, 1963 — December 21, 2017

St. Martinville - A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville for Kevin Bernis, 54, who passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:30 am until funeral service at 10:00 am on Friday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will be at a later date. Kevin, better known as "The Pop", was a man of many attributes. He was a great leader, kind, generous, loving, humble, encouraging, and outgoing, to name a few. Kevin worked in the oilfield most of his life, but he would not want to be remembered for his work or what was on his resume; he would want to be remembered for the legacy he left. He had a great love for his family and showed tremendous kindness for those in need. Kevin always had an encouraging word or positive outlook for everyone. He lived for the moment and accomplished so many things in the short time he was here with us. To know Kevin would be to love him. Let us not focus on his death, but the life that he lived. Hold on to the memories and blessings he shared with you, and know that he would want you to celebrate his life. He is survived by the love of his life for 33 years, Jill Theriot Bernis; sons, Kyle Bernis and wife Renita Mouton, and Beau Bernis; grandchildren, Dante' and Jaxon Bernis; mother, Glenda Bernis; siblings, Branan B Bernis, Cherie Bernis, and Janet Bernis Theriot; nephews, Branan "Tres" Bernis, III, Charlie Bernis, Cody Champagne, and Reece Theriot; nieces, Caitlin Champagne and Arrie Theriot Broussard; and great nephews, Caisen Champagne, Cayden Arnaud, and Branan Wilder Bernis. He was preceded in death by his father, Branan Bernis; maternal grandparents, Ray and Cecile Vincent; and paternal grandparents, Willie and Olive Bernis. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville, 112 New Market St., St. Martinville, LA 70582, (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
