Lanis James Belaire, Sr.

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia for Lanis James Belaire, Sr., 87, who passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 8:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Gregory Cormier will officiate the funeral mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Lanis worked as a Master Carpenter for many years. He could fix or build anything. In his spare time, he enjoyed fixing equipment, tinkering with gadgets, working on cars and was a computer wizard. You could always find him watching his favorite TV shows, wrestling and polka music. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and cherished the time spent with them. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores Gautreaux Belaire; sons, Steven G. Belaire, Michael J. Belaire Sr. (Robin) and Lanis J. Belaire Jr. (Nicole); daughter, Ann M. Belaire; twelve grandchildren, Michael Belaire Jr. (Scott), Mandy Smith (Ronnie), Amber Courville (Mark), Krystal Dore (Scot), Lacey Belaire (Hayden Brown), Nicole Breaux (Joe), Benjamin Berard (Chelsea Romero), Jacob Berard (Paris), Lanis C. Belaire, Aaron Belaire, Victoria Belaire and Joshua Belaire; twelve great grandchildren, Oliver Breaux, Olivia Breaux, Orianna Breaux, Kylie Smith, Karlie Smith, Owyn Breaux, Kinzlie Smith, Hannah Courville, Easton Dore, Adam Courville, Annie Berard and Kolt Smith; sisters, Hazel Daigle, Betty Varisco (Frank), Euline Vanwee, Eunice Langlinais (Carol), Verna Fruge, Mary Nell Courville (Alpha), Diane Braquet, and Carma Glas (Fred Lawrence); and one brother, Ray Coomer (Anne). He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Marie Toucheck Belaire; sisters, Louella Mae Choplin and Mary Ann Foote; and brother, Maurice Belaire, Jr. Pallbearers will be Michael J. Belaire Sr., Michael Belaire Jr., Benjamin Berard, Jacob Berard, Lanis C. Belaire, Aaron Belaire, Joshua Belaire and Oliver Breaux.
