Larry James LeBlanc

October 27, 1943 — November 13, 2019

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, November 18, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Larry James LeBlanc, 76, who passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 8:00 am until 9:30 am. A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Butch Hebert at 7:00 pm on Sunday. Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Reader will be Michelle LeBlanc. Gift bearers will be Danielle Spath, Kristen Hamilton, Chloe Hamilton, and Ava Serrette. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Larry was an exceptional and brilliant husband, father, brother & friend. As a devoted husband, he cherished spending time with his beloved wife Sandy whom he was married to for 56 years. In his wallet, he still carried pictures from the time they were dating. Their later years were spent volunteering for the Tour de Teche boat race and ham radio field day events. His passionate hobby of building antennas enabled individuals to communicate from across the globe. His wife Sandy and his son Andre’ both have their Ham Radio Operators License. By profession, Larry was an electrical engineer with two Masters Degrees in Engineering and Computer Science from USL. His contributions to Texas Instruments resulted in several patents. He retired from University Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana where he enjoyed working in IT & networking. Larry’s gift from God was selfless serving and he loved helping others. He enjoyed the challenge of troubleshooting crashed computers. He would work, day and night to identify the problem and solve it. He was known to piece together parts and pieces to build computers and gift them to individuals who otherwise couldn’t afford one. On a Sunday afternoon, it was not unlike him to pick up someone in need and bring them home to dine at the family table, strangers and friends alike. He was a great father to four children. He was loving yet firm, always guiding his children in the right direction. He would forgive when they needed forgiveness. He consistently led by example through his actions and decisions. If his children strayed, he would redirect and counsel them like a shepherd guides his flock. Any time spent with Larry was memorable because time spent with him was intentional. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye and they brought him so much joy. He made it to as many of their events as he could. His years as their “Paw-Paw” softened him in the most beautiful and selfless way. Hearing of their accomplishments (big or small) was his delight. He also loved hanging out with extended family and cousins. Easter was one of his favorite holidays. His grandchildren would gather in one location for the biggest Easter egg hunt in town. His favorite part was to the long grass cut in trails for the kids to enjoy. Most importantly, Larry loved the church. He gave of himself freely until the day he met his savior. As a young boy, he was an altar boy at St Bernard Church. During his child rearing years, he was a devoted Sunday school teacher. Most currently he was a lector, a Eucharistic Minister, bible study participant and was active in the RCIA program at St. Bernard. He instilled in his family a strong spiritual foundation with Christ as its center. It brings his family great comfort to know that he is resting eternally with Christ his Savior. He will be greatly missed. We look forward to meeting him again one day in heaven. If there is a lawn to be mowed or a computer to be fixed in heaven, Larry is your guy. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Mire LeBlanc; daughters, Nicole Anne Savoie (Ken) and Susan Marie Morrogh (Miguel); sons, Paul Andre LeBlanc and John Daniel LeBlanc; brother, Dave C. LeBlanc (Michelle R.); sister, Viva LeBlanc; and his grandchildren, Kristen Hamilton, Chloe Hamilton, Micah Morrogh, Danielle Spath, Maddox Morrogh, Ava Gayle Serrette, Kreg Savoie and spouse Candra, Kris Savoie, and Kent Savoie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney J. and Lenore Blanchard LeBlanc. Pallbearers will be Paul LeBlanc, John LeBlanc, Dave C. LeBlanc, Micah Morrogh, Maddox Morrogh, Ken Savoie, and Miguel Morrogh. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge, 211 Berard St., Breaux Bridge, LA 70517, (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
