St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Laura Guilliam Batiste, 76, who passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Saturday.
Rev. Michael Sucharski, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass. The reader will be Jackie Narcisse.
Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Laura was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Notre Dame Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing cards, and Bingo. Laura cherished her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will greatly be missed.
She is survived by her sons, Perry Batiste, Jr. and wife Warrenina, Reginald Batiste, and Gerard Batiste and wife Amanda; her sister, Sophie Guilliam Latulas; her grandchildren, Macroyce Williams, Malasha Batiste, Shatajai Batiste, Cody Williams, Coryn Batiste, Sherelle Batiste, Reginald Batiste, Jr., Shyanna Batiste, Gerard Batiste, Jr., Aliyah Batiste, and Braylon Batiste; and her great grandchildren, Ha'Jaia Batiste, Jaiden Batiste, Jaylen Eugene, Tyler Jones, and Amari Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Batiste, Sr.; her parents, Adam and Laura Ester Guilliam, Sr.; a grandchild, Sherlyne Batiste; her brothers, Adam Guilliam, Morris Guilliam, and Batiste Gilliam; and her sisters, Rita Batiste, Serena Guilliam, Anna Jones, and Mary Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be Jermaine Porche, Whitney Guilliam, Tometrius Antoine, Bernard Batiste, Sterling Francis, and Elbert Ray Guilliam.
Honorary pallbearers will be MacRoyce Williams, Kirk Guilliam, Damon Guilliam, Dwayne Guilliam, Patrick Antoine, Gerard Batiste Jr., Elzy Guilliam, and Darnell Linden.
