Laura Legnon Dugas

New Iberia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 PM Monday, November 3, 2014 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church in New Iberia for Laura Mae Legnon Dugas, 82, who died Saturday, October 31, 2014, in Lafayette. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery in New Iberia. Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 2:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 10:00 AM until 2:15 PM. A native of New Iberia, Mrs. Dugas was born on January 1, 1932 to Harrison and Thelma Hulin Legnon, and was a retired cafeteria worker, having worked for the St. Martin Parish School Board. Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, camping, dancing, and making people laugh. Mrs. Dugas also enjoyed spending time with her family who she loved very much. Survivors include children, Lynn A. Dugas and wife Debra of New Iberia, Gwenlyn A. Boudreaux of New Iberia, Gilda M. Veazey and husband Heith of St. Martinville; brother, Mitchel Blanchard and wife Theresa of Vinton; sisters, Doris Gaspard of New Iberia, Gail Vice of Youngsville, Marie Blanchard of New Iberia; 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lenis J. Dugas; a son, Eloi Lewis Dugas; brothers, Lawrence Legnon, and Leroy Legnon. Pallbearers will be Shannon Dugas, Brian Dugas, Andy Firmin, Loggen Dugas, Heith Veazey, Josh Judice, and Renaldo Boutte.
