New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, November 9, 2007, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, in Coteau for Laura Trahan Edler, 69, who died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 in at her residence. Entombment will be in Holy Family Mausoleum. Rev. Barry Crochet will be the Celebrant. Readers include Barbara Crochet and Annie Segura. Gift Bearers will be her grandchildren. A native of Jefferson Island, Mrs. Edler was a legal secretary having worked for Landry, Watkins, Repaske, and Breaux for over 40 years. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Fred Edler of New Iberia; sons, Billy Edler and wife Betsy of Youngsville, Mark Edler and wife Faye of New Iberia, Chriss Edler and wife Pam of New Iberia; daughters, Cissy Segura and husband Tim of Cade, Angela Chastant and husband Gerald Chastant, Jr. of Youngsville; sister, Barbara Crochet of New Iberia; 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Olite Foster Trahan; son, Barry Edler; sister, Elaine Trahan. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be at 6:00 PM Thursday. Visitation will continue Friday from 8:00 AM until time of service. Pallbearers will be Billy Edler, Mark Edler, Chriss Edler, Bethany Edler, Gerald Chastant, Jr., and Tim Segura. Honorary pallbearers include John Ray Herring and Barry Edler.
