Lauralane Cecilia Fortenberry Bruce

Cecilia- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 24, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Lauralane Cecilia Fortenberry Bruce, 82, who passed away on March 20, 2025.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 9:00 AM until service time.

A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Sunday.

Rev. Ken Domingue will officiate at the funeral mass.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

A devoted member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Leonville, Lauralane played the organ and took part in church activities as a Carmelite, enriching the spiritual lives of her fellow parishioners with her musical talent and dedication. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion, reflected in the lives of her family and friends. Her selfless nature and nurturing spirit touched many lives; she never met a stranger and always extended her help to anyone in need. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, creating beautiful items for many, and even took the time to teach others this cherished skill.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Tonya) Bruce, Joseph "Eddie" (Beth) Bruce and John Kevin Bruce; siblings, Avery Fortenberry, Jr., Linda (Bootsie) Connella and Lester (Marie) Fortenberry; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her parents, Avery and Elaine LeBlanc Fortenberry, Sr.; sons, Benjamin Bruce, James Bruce and Silas Bruce; sister, Louann Shulker.

Pallbearers will be Cody Bruce, Caleb Bruce, Timmy Bruce, Hunter Bruce, Andrew Erbe and David Durio.

Honorary pallbearers will be Aden Bruce and Lawrence Guidry.
