Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, September 9, 2010, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Lawrence Delahoussaye, 86, who passed away on Monday, Sepember 6, 2010 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 - Mausoleum in Breaux Bridge.
Father Ed Degeyter and Father Buddy Breaux will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Altar Servers will be Trent and Brennan Dugas. Scriptures will be read by Aimye T. Dugas and Kylin Fernandez, and gifts will be presented to the Altar by his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Delahoussaye proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars and a life member of the Carpenter's Local No. 1075.
Lawrence enjoyed working and in his spare time he loved to hunt. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always putting his family first; providing for their every need was his top priority. He was known and respected as the patriarch of his family and was a wonderful counselor to anyone in need of advice, and will be sadly missed by all who had the honor and privilege of knowing and loving him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Eunice Tauzin Delahoussaye of Breaux Bridge; two sons, Jeffery J. Delahoussaye and Dean F. Delahoussaye; two daughters, Helen D. Theriot and her husband, Ames, and Fabian D. Tucker and her husband, Butch, all of Breaux Bridge; one brother, Milton Delahoussaye and his wife, Evelyn, of Henderson; 9 grandchildren, Aimye T. Dugas, Jonathan P. Dore, Clint A. Theriot, Nicki D. Fernandez, Jason S. Dore, Alaina T. Carlson, Keisha LeBlanc Delahoussaye, Tonya LeBlanc Delahoussaye, and Tomi Lauren Tucker; and 20 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Eric Delahoussaye; his parents, Jean Batiste Alfred Delahoussaye and Marie Poirier Delahoussaye; four brothers, Anatole, Avery, Allen, and Theodule Delahoussaye; and two sisters, Josephine D. Thibodeaux and Edna D. Babin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday and continue at 7 a .m. until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
A rosary will be recited by Father Buddy Breaux at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Jon Dore, Clint Theriot, Jason Dore, Arden 'Noonie' Delahoussaye, Jeffery Delahoussaye, and Harold Delahoussaye.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Delahoussaye, Ames Theriot, Butch Tucker, Russ Tauzin, Drew Dugas, Stephen Carlson, Layton Fernandez, John Ivanoff, and Jeremiah Johnson.
