St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Lawrence Joseph Savoy, 89, who passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until 10 am on Saturday.
A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Saturday.
Rev. Cyriaque Sounou, SVD will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Lawrence enjoyed soaking up the rays of sunshine while sitting in his favorite lawn chair. He looked forward to watching The Bold and the Beautiful, classic old Western movies, and the Rosary. Lawrence also enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hanging out with his favorite nephew, Joseph “T-Boy” Johnson. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his two sons, Lawrence C. Savoy and George Savoy (Julia); three daughters, Sylvia Savoy, Cynthia Willis (Albert) and Simone Bowens (Reginald); grandchildren, LaTasha Savoy, Danielle Savoy, Tori Savoy, Manielle Savoy, LaShaundra McAllister, Jason Willis, Kelly Lyles, Eric Savoy, Precilla Jones, Albert Willis, Jr., and Ryan Bowens; and one sister, Isabelle Stevens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Savoy; daughter, Bobbie Myers; grandchild, Jacoby Willis; parents, Custer and Mathilda Francois Savoy; three brothers, Alton Savoy, Walter Savoy and Wilton Savoy, Sr.; five sisters, Eula Scale, Annabelle Shield, Ethel Etienne, Luberta Johnson, and Marie Flugence.
Pallbearers will be Jason Willis, Albert Willis, Ryan Bowens, Brian Flugence, O’Neal Robertson, Troy Johnson, Joseph Johnson, and Noah Jones.
