Leatrice Clement

New Iberia - Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 17, 2013, at Highland Baptist Church in New Iberia, for Leatrice Clement, 82, who died on Thursday, June 13, 2013 in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. Visitation will continue Monday at the CHURCH from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.A native of Carlyss, Mrs. Clement was a 1948 valedictorian graduate of Sulphur High School, and was a long time area resident. She along with her husband, Robert, volunteered for the Christian Builders, traveling across the country helping construct church buildings. Her hobbies included fishing, camping, quilting, and working in her flower beds. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Robert H. Clement of New Iberia; daughters, Ruth Collins and husband Emel Collins, Jr. of New Iberia, Rachel Benton and husband Gary Benton of Longview, Texas; brother, E.J. Ellender, Jr., and wife Mary of Sulphur; grandchildren, Joey Collins, III of Lafayette, Lauren Sampson and husband Jason of Jacksonville, Florida, Rebecca Pittman and husband Zack of Gonzales, Lara Benton of Tyler, Texas and Laras fianc Andrew Rodriguez of Longview, Texas; and a great grandchild due to arrive on December 19. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl J. Ellender, Sr., and Gladys Williams Ellender; and a brother, Edwin Ellender. Pallbearers will be E.J. Ellender, Jr., Emel Collins, Jr., Gary Benton, Joey Collins, III, Zack Pittman, and Andrew Rodriguez.
