Lee Velma Gathe Begnaud

Lafayette - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 24, 2018, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette for Lee Velma Gathe Begnaud, 86, who passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Saturday. Reverend Chester C. Arceneaux will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. Mrs. Begnaud enjoyed sewing, cooking, and cherished moments spent with family and friends. She was very generous in sharing meals with neighbors, especially for those who were in need. Mrs. Begnaud was known for having a very loving family home and she took great care of her ill son for many years. She is survived by her son, Ricky Begnaud of Lafayette; daughters, Carolyn Landreth and husband Tom of Butte, MT, Sandra Bijou and husband Caesar of Los Angeles, CA, and Vickie Babineaux of Lafayette; brother, Charles Gathe and wife Susan of Lafayette; sister, Genevieve Catalon of Lafayette; grandchildren, Glenn Francis, Ricky Francis, Derrick Francis, Tommy Francis, Dylan Begnaud, Jared Bijou, Giovanni Bijou, Jennifer Montanez, Spencer Landreth, Mitchell Landreth, Brittany Babineaux, and Bevan Babineaux; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Mitchell Begnaud; parents, Cleophe and Lola Moless Gathe; daughter, Diane Begnaud; sons, Glenn Begnaud and Ted Begnaud; brother, Jesse Gathe; and sister, Lily Gathe. Pallbearers will be Jared Bijou, Glenn Francis, Dylan Begnaud, Tommy Francis, Bevan Babineaux, and Giovanni Bijou. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Gathe and Michael Mark Catalon.
