St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 8, 2005, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Lee Davis Toups,73, who died Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA.
Entombment will be in St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Mr. Toups was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of New Iberia. ?He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. ?He retired as an Allstate Agent. ?He loved coaching baseball and was a District 7 East Chairman for the American Legion Baseball. ?He also enjoyed playing golf, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. ?Mr. Toups was currently serving as an All State Catastrophe Team Member. ?He was also a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion and the Elks Lodge in Opelousas. ?
Survivors include his wife Lucy Laviolette Toups of Baton Rouge; his sons Mark Stephen Toups and his wife Michelle of Lafayette, Troy Matthew Toups and his wife Susan of New Orleans, John David Toups and his girlfriend Rebecca of Baton Rouge; his daughter, Charisse Toups Hanchey and her husband Brian of Baton Rouge; his brothers, Carl L. Toups and Larry Toups, both of New Iberia; his sister Myrtle Clement of Jeanerette; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Davis and Anita Borel Toups; his brothers, Wiltz Toups Sr. and Nelson Toups; and his baby sister, Margaret Toups.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 AM till 10:00 PM, Friday, October 7, 2005 and continue at 8:00 AM, Saturday, October 8, 2005 until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM, Friday, October 7, 2005
Pallbearers will be Mark Toups, Troy Toups, John Toups, Brennan Toups, Brian Hanchey and Erns Snyder Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Connor Toups, Larry Toups, Wiltz Toups, Jr., Carl Toups, Gil Primeaux, Paul Jones and Tim Bonin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer and the American Heart Association.
