Breaux Bridge - A private graveside service will be held for LeeAnna Guidry Serrette, 77, who passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020.
There are so many words we could use to describe our mother/grandmother, but just a few are loving, supportive and dedicated to her family. She was a beloved mother, wife, sister, grandmother, and friend. She cherished her family more than anything. She was a seamstress, hairdresser and retired as an instructor of 74 women at Martin Mills, Fruit of The Loom for 30 years. She was awesome at her job and when she took off walking, she was hard to catch! She would communicate to her unit by whistling over all the sewing machines and she continued that whistling till the end. She enjoyed retirement with her pets and hobbies such as dancing, gardening, cooking, cutting her grass and drinking her beer. She was known as the "cool" grandmother as she was the frontline cheerleader in life and at her grandchildren's sport activities. They always knew where she was sitting because of her infamous whistling. She was Blessed to have three amazing daughters whose undying love for their mother never went unnoticed. They gave her nine grandchildren who adored their Gammie. She especially enjoyed watching her great grandchildren grow up. She will be sadly missed, but we find great comfort in knowing that she is finally at peace and wrapped in Jesus' loving arms. We hope Heaven is ready for your whistling! WE LOVE YOU!!
These are just a few of her Grandchildren's Favorite Memories: Shauna: Spending the night at her house and binge watching I Love Lucy. Brice: I just love my Gammie. Layla: Whistling at my games and when she would make my favorite vegetable soup during my stay with her. Gage: I loved how whenever we had a ball game we knew where she was because she would whistle so loud. Jacie: When I was 14, Gammie gave me her birthstone necklace because I was her only grandchild that had the same birth month as hers. Jace: Her whistling at our soccer games and watching cartoons with her and Honey. Ashley: Walking over to her house watching TV and drinking Sunkist with her and he·r visiting me and my children. Britney: Lying in bed just us two, watching TV with her and playing with her hair and arm. Alisha: Spending Friday nights with her and waking up to her cooking grits. She made the most perfect pot of grits!
