Parks - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks, for Leila Joan Alleman Babin, 94, who passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 8:00 am until 9:15 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Marcel Butch Hebert at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Rev. Donovan Labbe, will officiate at the Funeral Mass with Rev. Ed Degeyter and Rev. Donald Pelous con-celebrating at the funeral service. Scriptures will be read by Dolores McGee and Cecilia Babin. Gift Bearers will be Dawn Berard, Dolan Thomas, Sue Clausen, Millicent Mathews, Jamie Barras, and Ashley Babin. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Mrs. Babin was a member of the Sodality of the Children of Mary, as a youngster. She sang in the church choir from early youth until her mid-seventies. She taught C.C.D. classes for Father Roy and Father Gaudin. She was a Eucharistic Minister for the sick and shut-ins. She served as a Pink Lady helping at Gary Memorial Hospital. She tended to the Sanctuary candle on the Altar, purchasing and delivering them to the church and changing them when needed. Leila belonged to the Ladies Altar Society, the Home Rosary Group, the Catholic Daughters, the Home Demonstration Club, the K.C. Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Pink Ladies, the Tripoley Club, and the Pokeno Club. Mrs. Babin was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed and cherished moments spent with her family and friends, especially cooking for them. She is survived by four sons, Donald James Babin and wife, Rowena Albert Babin, of St. Martinville, Charles Kenneth Babin of Lafayette, James Paul Babin and wife, Wendy Breaux Babin, of Lafayette, and Michael David Babin and wife, Cecilia Herrera Babin, of Metairie; 11 grandchildren, Dawn Berard, Dolan Thomas, Sue Clausen, Ken Babin, Todd Babin, Millicent Mathews, Jamie Barras, Dane Babin, Brett Babin, Scott Lepley, and Ashley Babin; 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Luke Babin; her parents, Dr. Charles J. Alleman, Sr. and Ursula Hebert Alleman; three brothers, James Alleman and wife, Georgie, C.J. Alleman, Jr., and Lawrence Alleman; three sisters, Laura Hess and husband, George, Ursula Beaugh and husband, Oscar, and Marjorie Purgley and husband, Buddy; and her daughter-in-law, Micky Hebert Babin. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ken Babin, Todd Babin, and Dane Babin, and her great grandsons, Trent Thomas, Justin Thomas, and Tyler Berard. Honorary pallbearers will be Brett Babin, Colby Babin, Burke Mathews, Holden Mathews, Ava Mathews, Hunter Barras, Landon Barras, Bailee Barras, Meah Babin, Hannah Babin, Madison Berard, Mabel Clausen, Marjie Clausen, Olivia Babin, Abigail Babin, and Caroline Thomas.
