Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge in Breaux Bridge, for Leland Guidry Sr., 71, who passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Saturday, and continue on Sunday at 8:00 am until 1:45 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Saturday.
Rev. Brian Webre will officiate at the Funeral Service. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Leland was a member of CFMA and the Knights of Columbus for many years. In his spare time you could find him behind a pot with a spoon in his hand. If there was a benefit, he was always willing to lead the cook-off. Leland enjoyed horse racing, Cajun music, dancing, and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 50 years, Sue Jeansonne Guidry; son, Leland Guidry, Jr. and wife Geraldine of St. Martinville; daughters, Tina Faul and husband Tommy of Scott, Christine Penn of Lafayette; his mother-in-law, Josey Anna Jeansonne; brothers, Chester Guidry and wife Yvonne of Breaux Bridge, Frank Guidry, Jr. and wife Jackie of Arnaudville, Russell Guidry and wife Becky of Port Barre, Francis Guidry and wife Toni of Cecilia, Maurice Guidry of Arnaudville; sisters, Lena Richard and husband Earl of Leonville, Lucy LeBlanc and husband Brent of Arnaudville, Aline Broussard and husband Bryant of Breaux Bridge, Kathy Meche and husband Brian of Arnaudville, and Sylvia Guidry of Arnaudville; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents, Frank Guidry, Sr. and Ella Montet Guidry; his sister, Joycelyn Marie Guidry; his brothers, Jerry Guidry, Ronald Guidry and William Guidry; his aunt, Seliva Guidry; and his father-in-law, J.D. Jeansonne.
Pallbearers will be Leland and Jerry Guidry, Tommy and Timmy Faul, and Mark and Justin Penn.
Honorary pallbearers will be all of his brothers and brothers-in-law.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Our Lady of the Lake, Kenneth and Connie Walker, Sandra and Tony Patin, his sisters, Aline, Kathy and Sylvia, and other family members and friends.
