Lena was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana on December 3, 1923, to George Alexander and Lorena Noel. She was the third of seven children. Lena was dedicated to her family. A single mother, she devoted her entire life to her children. She worked odd jobs such as taking in ironing and was employed by St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School as a cafeteria worker. She worked as a housekeeper for Mr. and Mrs. Rex Begnaud. The later part of her life she worked in the home of Robert and Nettie Domingues and their children, Margaret, Robert, Jr., George, Paul, Susan, and John, and became an extended member of the Domingues family. Lena loved cooking, playing bingo, saying her rosary, spending time with her family, but she will be most remembered for her love of gardening and the pride she took in her lawn. Her passion and natural gift for tending to her flowers brought her the most joy and relaxation. There was not a plant or flower she could not name or properly care for. Because of her love of gardening, she was recognized in the local newspaper for having the Yard of the Month. Lena will always be remembered as a loving, caring person, devoted to her family, friends, and her faith in God.
She is survived by her sons, Junius Williams and wife Irma, Charles Williams and spouse Marie Gail, George Williams and wife Cheryl, and Sidney Williams, Sr.; her daughter, Pearl Williams; 11 grandchildren, Eric, Sr., Davin, Rashida, Kenya, Lena, George Daniel, Christopher, Nikia, Nikisha, Sidney, Jr., and Kenneth; 25 great grandchildren, Teonna, Erica, DeAshton, Eric, Jr., Courtland, Caitlyna, Connor, Carter, Rashayna, Destin, N'Kyra, Keria, Tarji, Imani, Waylon, Christama, Jalya, Trenton, Aliya, Brandon, Daylon, Sa'mori, Christian, Cameron, and Davlynn; her brother, Matthew DeRouselle and spouse Eula, daughter-in-law, Debra Spikes; sisters-in-law, Beatrice (T-bee) Williams, Ada Simpson, Madeline Remaker, Anna Belle Alexander, Alice Mae Alexander; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
