Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Lennis Joseph Allemand, 86, who passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until 12:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Rev. Donovan Labbe will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Kalli Hunt. Gift bearers will be all of his children. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Lennis retired from the Louisiana National Guard. He enjoyed gardening, riding in his golf cart, and just being with his family. Sunday was his favorite day of the week; it was spent with his family drinking coffee, eating cake, and listening to Cajun music. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Lou Lanerie Allemand; his son, Bryan Allemand and wife Michelle; his daughters, Elizabeth Angelle and husband Wayne, Yvonne Matte and companion Kevin Fabre, Sharline Sonnier and husband Dean, and Susan Huval and companion Donald Lemaire; his brother, Edwin Allemand and wife Madia; his sister, Odette Babineaux; his grandchildren, Melissa Olivier, Kiley Laviolette, Derek Angelle, Shannon Hoffpauir, Lance Matte, Shawntelle Bergeron, Cassidy Champagne, Kalli Hunt, Josh Huval, Aaron LeMaire, Chris Allemand, Abbie Allemand, and Sadi Brasseaux; and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cabel and Angeline Thibodeaux Allemand; his brother, Horace Allemand; and his sister, Laura LeBlanc. Pallbearers will be Derek Angelle, Cassidy Champagne, Lance Matte, Josh Huval, Chris Allemand, and Aaron LeMaire. Honorary pallbearers will be Edwin Allemand, Louis Allemond, and Raymond Arceneaux.
