Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Monday, May 9, 2011, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Lenny Paul Brasseaux, Sr., 80, who passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Meadowbrook Specialty Hospital in Lafayette.Msgr. J. Douglas Courville, Pastor of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, will officiate at the Funeral Mass. ; Scriptures will be read by Ariel Hoffpauir and Jenny Mequet. Gifts will be presented to the Altar by Liz LeBlanc, Hal Guidry, and Sue Guidry. ; ; Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.Lennys military career began with the U.S. Airforce 79th Fighter Bomber Squadron, then in 1972 he enlisted with the 256th Infantry Brigade of the Louisiana Army National Guard, in which he also served as a LAARNG Recruiter. He continued to honorably serve his country, until his retirement on October 31, 1990. He was the owner and operator of Brasseauxs Shoe Repair for many years. Lenny was very involved in his community, serving as the City Clerk for the City of Breaux Bridge; Commissioner-in-Charge of elections for over 40 years, and was a member of the American Legion Post 133, and the Woodmen of the World.He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. ; Lenny was indeed a people person - he loved meeting people and no person was ever a stranger for long, especially after he had a 'little chat' with them. Everything in his life was a treasure, especially his family, friends, and the military, which he held close to his heart.Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy Joan Bright Brasseaux of Breaux Bridge; his son, Lenny Paul Brasseaux, Jr. and his wife, Sharon Danos Brasseaux of Breaux Bridge; his daughter, Sharon Brasseaux LeBlanc and her fianc, William Perry, of Breaux Bridge; two grandsons, Brad M. LeBlanc and his fiance, Ariel Hoffpauir, and Jeremy R. Brasseaux and his fiance, Jenny Mequet; three brothers, Lolly Brasseaux, Sr., Donald J. Brasseaux, Sr., and Steven Brasseaux, Sr.; his sister, Elizabeth B. LeBlanc and her husband, Eddy, all of Breaux Bridge; and his brother-in-law, Robert Bright and his wife, Marilyn, of Kingwood, TX.He was preceded in death by his parents, Andres and Birdie Helene Trahan Brasseaux; one sister, Geraldine 'Jeri' Guidry; two brothers-in-law, Harold J. Guidry Sr. and Jack E. Bright, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Yvonne G.
