Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Leona Baudin, 88, who passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Friday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until service time.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Friday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1.
She was widely known for her role as the Owner and Operator of Baudin's Super Market and Baudin's Sausage Kitchen, where she dedicated herself to serving her customers with warmth and care.
Born on October 1, 1935, Leona's life was filled with passion for her work and devotion to her family and friends. Her warm personality and kind-hearted nature left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments, but also for the love and compassion she showed towards others.
In addition to her successful career, Leona was actively involved in various community groups. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church, and a member of the Catholic Daughters, Ladies Altar Society, The Theresians, and a Rosary Group, where she found solace in faith and friendship.
Outside of work and community service, Leona had a vibrant spirit that shone through in her hobbies. An avid Bourré player, she looked forward to the weekly gatherings with her friends every Tuesday, cherishing the laughter and camaraderie that came with the game.
She is survived by her children, Vickie Pennise, Peggy (Joe Peterson) Baudin, Keith (Anna Lou) Baudin, Tonie (Charles) Papadakes and Edward A. "Jack" (Leah) Baudin, Jr.; sister, Joyce (Joe) Broussard; brothers, Jesse (Myra) Theriot, Norris (Peggy) Theriot and Neil (Julie) Theriot; grandchildren, Alicia Watson, Brad Baudin, Chad Baudin, Aaron Baudin, Sarah Papadakes Stoute, Ethan Papadakes , Adam Baudin and Evan Baudin; and her great-grandchildren, Devon Watson, Alec Watson, Ashlyn Baudin, David Baudin, Charleigh Baudin and Tucker Stoute.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Baudin; parents, Norris and Martha Borel Theriot; brother, Wilton Theriot; and her son-in-law, Ron Pennise.
Pallbearers will be Brad Baudin, Chad Baudin, Aaron Baudin, Ethan Papadakes, Adam Baudin, and Evan Baudin.
