New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday, September 15, 2008, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church for Leonard Paul "Net" Badeaux, 83 who died Thursday, September 11, 2008 in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum with full military honors.
Msgr. Richard Greene will be the Celebrant. Readers will be Jessica Garza and Celina Poole. Gift Bearers include Becky Arnaud and Julianne DeSoto.
Born on September 14, 1924 in New Iberia, Mr. Badeaux worked for Standard Supply and Hardware for over 42 years. His passions included hunting, playing golf, raising beagles, and homing pigeons. He was a member of the New Iberia Pigeon Racing Club, the Lions Club, life member of the VFW Post 1982, life member of the Marine Corp. League, life member of the 1st Marine Division Association, life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Badeaux proudly served our country in the U.S. Marines during World War II in the South Pacific, including battles at Cape Gloucester, Talasen on New Britian, and was wounded during the invasion of Peleiu. He was the awarded the Purple Heart Medal with Gold Star, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Marine Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with three battle stars, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Celina "Sue" Pellerin Badeaux of New Iberia; daughters, Karen Anne Badeaux, Phyllis B. Garza-Druilhet and husband Robert, Renee B. Poole and husband Larry, Teri B. Guidry and husband Robert C. Guidry all of New Iberia; brother, Wilson J. Badeaux, Jr. of New Iberia; sister-in-law, Gladys M. Badeaux of New Iberia; grandchildren, Richard L. Tate, Robert P. Tate, Rebecca T. Arnaud, Stephen A. Tate, Jonathan R. Garza, Julianne G. DeSoto, Jessica E. Garza, Jillian Z. Garza, Celina B. Poole, Devon Regina Poole; step grandchildren, Major Jeffrey W. Garza, USMC, Jo Anna G. Kitchens, Rachel K. Guidry, Robert J. Guidry; 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson J. Badeaux, Sr. and Elodie Derouen Badeaux; a brother, Nelson Badeaux, and a sister, Eula B. Hebert.
Pallbearers will be Major Jeffrey W. Garza, USMC, Richard Tate, Robert Guidry, Robbie Tate, Stephen Tate, Jonathan Garza, and Chad Arnaud.
Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Robert Druilhet, Larry Poole, W.J. Badeaux, Jr., Robert C. Guidry, Dr. Burt Bujard, and Hale A. Boudreaux.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, from 1:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
