Lydia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm, on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, for Leonard “Dobie” Lancon, Jr., 79, who passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Iberia Honor Guard.
Rev. Randy Courville will be the Celebrant.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home, and will continue Thursday, from 8:00 am until 12:15 pm.
A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Wednesday.
“Dobie” was born on March 26, 1945, on Weeks Island, to the late Leonard Joseph Lancon, Sr. and Marie LeeAnn Hebert Lancon. A 1964 graduate of New Iberia High School, he proudly served our country in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam War, and worked at Morton Salt Mine for over 30 years. Dobie enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, playing his guitar and harmonica, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sandra Hebert Lancon; children, Jeremy Lancon (Vickie), and Shelley Lancon Legnon (Devin); grandchildren, Micah Legnon (Kimberly), Noah Legnon, and Jagger Lancon; great grandchildren, Connor Legnon and Skai Legnon; brothers, Patrick Lancon (Ann), and Elby Lancon, Sr. (Karen); and his mother-in-law, Agnes Hebert.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Wallace Hebert, Sr.
Pallbearers will be Micah Legnon, Noah Legnon, Jagger Lancon, Elby Lancon, Jr., Justin Lancon, and Devin Legnon.
Honorary pallbearers include Patrick Lancon, Elby Lancon, and Michael Hebert.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana and Calcutta House, especially Laura, Raynetta and Lauren, for extraordinary care and compassion.
