Leonard Russo

New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Pellerin Funeral Home, for Leonard Russo, 85, who passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

 Entombment will follow in the St. Marcellus Cemetery, in Rynella.

 Deacon Durk Viator will officiate.

 Visitation will be Saturday, from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 12:30 pm.

 A longtime area resident, Mr. Russo was born on June 20, 1939, in Camden, Arkansas, to the late Salvador “Sam” and Gercy Champagne Russo. He was the owner and operator of Leonard’s Paint and Body Shop, and then later worked as an insurance adjuster. Mr. Russo had a passion for antique and classic cars. Throughout the years, he owned several different models and was a member of the Acadiana “A’s” Model A Car Club, and the Independent Garage Owners Association. Mr. Russo also enjoyed traveling and “tinkering”, however his greatest love was his family. He cherished spending time with them and would always put them first.

 Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rosemary Boudreaux Russo; children, Bryan Russo (Dianne), Michael Russo (Lisa), and Stacie Russo Duplechin; grandchildren, Colby Russo, Nicholas Russo (Ronni), Wyatt Duplechin, Heather Moore (Jon), and Megan Whittaker; great grandchildren, Parker Moore, Evangeline Moore, Christian Russo, Charlotte Russo, Cortland Owens, Cullen Owens, and Fisher Whittaker; sisters, Virginia Russo Latiolais (Dewey), Christine Russo Champagne, Jody Russo, and Linda Russo; brothers, Victor Russo, Nathan Russo, Sam Russo, Joe Russo, Charlie Russo, and Jack Russo; sisters-in-laws, Denise Russo and Mona Russo.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Sammy Russo and David Russo; a sister, Belinda Russo; and a son-in-law, Mel Duplechin.
