Leroy Angelle was born in Cecilia, Louisiana on July 31, 1950, to the late Louis and Odita Hebert Angelle. He worked in electrical wholesale, first at Dupuis Electrical, and retiring from Doerle’s after many years of service. His vibrant personality and his ability to connect with people will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He possessed the gift of gab and had an extraordinary talent for making friends with anyone he met. Fluent in both English and French, Leroy effortlessly bridged cultures and united individuals through his warm and captivating conversations.
Leroy pursued his various interests and hobbies with enthusiasm. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. In his youth, he served as an altar boy. Leroy found joy in simpler pleasures as well. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards with loved ones, and indulging in the thrilling atmosphere of Evangeline Downs to watch horse races. His passion extended to football games too; Leroy was an avid fan of the Saints and cherished every moment watching them play.
Life took an unexpected turn when Leroy lost his voice due to throat cancer. However, this setback didn't dampen his spirits or hinder his love for staying connected with family and friends. He discovered solace in scrolling through Facebook to remain updated on their lives. It became an avenue for him to express his affectionate support despite being unable to verbalize it.
Above all else, Leroy treasured time spent with his loved ones. Whether it was gathered around the dinner table, attending family events, or simply sharing stories and laughter, his devotion to his family shone through. Leroy's unwavering love and support will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life.
Mr. Angelle is survived by a daughter, Nicole “Nikki” Buteau (Cory); two grandchildren, Cory Glenn Buteau Jr. and Courtney Nicole Buteau; a sister, Brenda Angelle; special friends, Dean and Claudia Myers; and nephews, Randy Landry, Chris Landry and Johnny Reyes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret Delahoussaye Angelle; a sister, Vernice Marie Angelle; and a nephew, Brian Landry.
Pallbearers will be Cory Buteau, Cory Buteau Jr., Dean Myers, Blaise Derouen, Lucas Gorman and Michael Meyers.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, especially nurse Monica Connell; and to his aide, Rebecca Louis, for extraordinary care and compassion.
May Leroy's gentle soul rest in eternal peace, forever loved and never forgotten.
