A native and lifelong resident of St. Martinville, LA., Leroy Paul Anthony Sr., affectionately known as “Peanut” was born on May 27, 1942 to the union of the Late Wilbert Anthony and the Late Lena James Anthony.
He was reared in a Catholic home and baptized into Notre Dame Catholic Church, where he remained a parishioner, Trustee of the Knights of Peter Claver Council #54 and a member of Goodwill Mutual Aid Society.
Peanut completed his formal education via the schools of St Martin Parish and graduated in 1960 from Carver High School in Breaux Bridge, LA. He began working as a welder at Breaux’s Bay Craft of Loreauville, LA. where he retired after 40 plus years of dedicated service.
He enjoyed barbecuing, gardening, watching sports, and his favorite soap opera “The Young and the Restless”, as well as keeping his home and yard beautiful. But the times he treasured most was spent with his wife of 51 years, the love he shared with her was for the stars. The passion between the two was so special that words could not explain. He also spent treasured moments with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family.
While spending countless hours with his family, Peanut loved spreading his wisdom and guidance with everyone, especially his grandchildren. He had a strong will of faith and always emphasized to his grandchildren the importance of “perseverance” and “to continue to Trust in the Lord”.
Peanut was a man that “lived like any day could be his last”. The love he spread was contagious to everyone around him. He was the sun that lifted the clouds away. His radiance brought warmth and happiness that could make you smile. There never was a situation that he could not make better.
Peanut peacefully departed his earthly life to take his place with God. Through it all he was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend until his passing.

Anthony; daughter, Sharon Kay Bonhomme (Howard Jay Bonhomme, III); brother, Elton Anthony (Armetine); sister, Emily Mitchell; grandchildren, Kwanita Narcisse (Emmanual), Leroy Anthony, III, Chelsea Fontenot, Janiah Anthony, Jaylon Bonhomme, Jaevion Bonhomme, Treavon Bonhomme, Brittney Anthony, Brianna Anthony, Bernard Alexander, Jacorey Lewis, Othello Anthony, O''Ryan Anthony, and Tyrese Williams; two great grandchildren, Jace Bonhomme and Chase Fontenot; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Valsin Anthony; and one brother-in-law, Joseph Valsin.
