Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Leroy Joseph Blaze, 83, who passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, in Coteau.
Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum.
Rev. Keith Landry will be the Celebrant. Gift Bearers include Nickalie Blaze and Leanna Blaze.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 8:00 am until 12:15 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia.
A longtime resident of Coteau, Mr. Blaze was born on January 18, 1934 to the late Forteney and Edna Girouard Blaze, and was a retired diesel mechanic. He had planted peppers for the Trappey Company, and his hobbies included gardening, hunting, agriculture, and music, especially playing his guitar.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Alice Gradney Blaze of Coteau; daughter, Angelina Blaze and fiance' Lonnie Guidry of Broussard; sons, Leroy Blaze, Jr. of Coteau, David Blaze and wife Mary of Katy, Texas, Mark Anthony Blaze and fiance' G of New Iberia, Adam Nicholas Blaze and wife Channa of Coteau; grandchildren, Misty Blaze, Moriah Blaze, Lucky Blaze, Dylan Guidroz, Taylor Blaze, Torrey Blaze, Leanna Blaze, Avie Blaze, Nickalie Blaze, and one due to arrive in February; great grandchildren, Emma Blaze, and one due to arrive in April; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Ana Lucia Blaze, and his sisters, Lydia Blaze, and Rita Blaze.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Blaze, Torrey Blaze, Dylan Guidroz, Lucky Blaze, Avie Blaze, and Adam Blaze.
Honorary pallbearers include Leanna Blaze, Nickalie Blaze, Misty Blaze, and Moriah Blaze.
The family would like to give special thanks to everyone who came out to assist in the search for Mr. Blaze, especially General John with the America's Cajun Navy, and our entire extraordinary community.
