Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, July 30, 2021, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Leroy "Pop" Thibodeaux, 76, who passed away on Monday, July 26, 2021, at his residence.The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home Thursday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday and continue at 7:00 am until 9:30 am on Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday.Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Gift Bearers will be Averi and Paxton Wiltz. Readers will be Carol Darbonne and Connie Poirier. Leroy was an operator with Fruit of the Loom for many years before going to work for St. Martin Parish Government, where he worked for 10 years until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and horse racing. Above all, Leroy loved spending time with his great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his daughter, Sonya Thibodeaux Buckner; son, Leroy "Joe" Joseph Thibodeaux; brothers, Jesse Thibodeaux and Lynn Thibodeaux (Patricia); sisters, Barbara Landry (Ray Dimpsey) and Brenda Thibodeaux; grandchild, Amber Buckner Wiltz (Timmy); and great-grandchildren, Averi and Paxton Wiltz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Mae Poirier Thibodeaux; parents, John "Lou Lou" and Mae Thibodeaux; son-in-law, Charles Lee Buckner, II; great-grandchild, Oaklee Roy Wiltz; and brother-in-law, Robert "Bruce" Broussard. Pallbearers will be Leroy "Joe" Joseph Thibodeaux, Lynn Thibodeaux, Timmy Wiltz, Patrick Thibodeaux, Ryan Thibodeaux, and Warren Poirier. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Thibodeaux, Ray Dimpsey, Paxton Wiltz, Larry Allemond, and Riley Thibodeaux.The family wishes to thank Dr. Degatur and his staff for their many years of care, and to the staff of Concepts of Care, especially, Bobbie.
